Durability Coatings are specifically formulated to provide protection against abrasion, cavitation and corrosion. They provide the ideal solution to protect new equipment as well as to restore existing worn parts.
The durability coatings can be applied to a wide range of metals including bronze, steel and aluminium and can be used in combination with other materials such as 316L or Inconel 625 to restore original dimensions when repairing damaged components.
The durability coatings are extremely hard and resistant to wear but can be polished using our special tools to any finish down to 0.01 RA. Coating thickness can be applied from a few microns to several millimetres. The coatings have a high adhesive strength and minimal porosity.
Because the durability coatings are applied at very high velocity (particle speed of 700 – 1,200 m/sec and gas speed > 2,500 m/sec, the temperature load on the item can be kept low, usually less than 2000 C and if required below 800 C. As a result dimensional distortion and material stresses can be avoided.
Although all the durability coatings are applied by the High Velocity Oxygen Fuel technique, there are many different mixes of coating powder to suit each application. Tailor-made solutions are available to meet the most exacting requirements.
